Digital forever journal
Early this year I wrote how I (plan to) journal in 2025.
Well, it kinda failed. But that's for another post.
Few days ago I stumbled on Dominik's post, which lead to this video.
I like Hobonichi's 5 years journal because you get to look back to your past entries. I want to implement this to my digital, plain-text journal and was busy searching for the "perfect" way to do it. Yet I missed the most obvious, simplest method.
365 individual text files in a single "journal" folder.
The files named 0101.md for Jan 1, 0102.md for Jan 2, and so on.
In each file, write the entries, with the year as the header.
2025
Event of the day
2024
What happened last year
2023
... and so on
And that's it. So simple, yet effective.
Definitely will use this format for my digital journal.
