One Big Text File

Since my social media detox, I've regain more time to think. More time for discovery.

Before, I use Joplin as my PKMS. PKMS is short for Personal Knowledge Management System.

One time, Joplin refused to sync. It requires the version on my Windows machine and my Linux machine to be the same.

Technically, I understand.

But I don't like it.

So I started re-arranging my PKMS as plain text. Herman, the creator of bear blog, journal in plain text. Derek too.

I like the freedom. Any text editor can read text file. I write in markdown for formatting. Still plain text. Different extension.

I thought of using folders for structures. Then I learn about OBTF.

One Big Text File.

I like the simplicity. Simple to maintain. Simple to backup. And I can use nano editor from the Linux terminal is a huge plus.

But I don't literally have one file for everything. I'm still figuring out how many files I need.

Will write again once I figure out a system that works for me.
