Weekly Note 05
This week I have been distracted by the number three:
The Witcher III
Rune Factory 3
and finally, Empire of the Dawn by Jay Kristoff, which is the third and final book of his Empire of the Vampire series.
Somehow Sesame's Street Count Dracula image pops up in my head as I wrote that opening lines.
Now I can understand the hype over The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. When a game can make you feel 'just-one-more-quest', it's good. I'm glad I decide to play it blind. Reading all the texts, books, and stories. Looking for information from the bestiary descriptions. Learning to adjust and prepare myself according to the enemies. I'm officially hooked.
And when I want just a simple, light game, I have Rune Factory 3. Cozy, and can be played day by day.
For off screen entertainment, I'm currently reading Empire of the Dawn. So far, so good.
Though I have to admit, I got TOO distracted this week. Feeling guilty skipping around 5 days both on my daily journalling and walking exercise.
Some interesting links this week:
- Simple linux backup with rsync by passthejoe. Now that I'm used to backing up my digital journal to my NAS with rsync, I can skim through the post and understand his points. But I still need to re-read to really understand. Might apply this to myself too.
- iPhone privacy setup by Surveillance Self Defense. I still prefer iPhone than Android, so I'm going to read this through and apply it.
- [Pinouts] diagram. Might be useful for DIYers out there.
